Flow Batteries Europe (FBE), the industry association for advancing flow battery technology and battery energy storage solutions across Europe, has announced the appointment of Juergen Wieshoff as head of governmental and public affairs. This newly created honorary position reflects FBE’s commitment to strengthening its institutional dialogue at both European and national levels. This effort aims to actively support the European energy transition through long-duration and sustainable battery storage.
In this role, Juergen Wieshoff will intensify and expand FBE’s engagement with key stakeholders including the European Parliament, the European Commission and particularly the German Federal Government. He will also foster constructive dialogue across the European energy landscape. The goal is to further position Flow Batteries Europe as a trusted partner in shaping Europe’s future energy system and promoting the role of battery energy storage, particularly flow batteries, in creating a resilient and renewable-based electricity grid.
A newly established role for Flow Batteries Europe

His experience and network make him the ideal person to strengthen Flow Batteries Europe’s relationships with policymakers and to support the deployment of battery energy storage across Europe.”
Over the past few decades, Jürgen Wieshoff has built a vast international network and has been engaged in numerous initiatives bridging European policy and the energy sector. His expertise in European energy markets regulation and technology deployment will bolster FBE’s mission to accelerate the development and integration of flow battery storage as a crucial component of the European energy transition.
