Flow battery firm UniEnergy Technologies (UET) has appointed its chief operating officer Rick Winter as President.
Winter managed the launch of the US company’s Uni.System™ and ReFlex™ energy storage systems and has helped guide the company to 80MWh in deployments and orders in four years.
Winter, who has been UET’s COO since 2013, will now have full responsibility and accountability for daily operations of the company.
UET is currently tripling its manufacturing and engineering floor space to enable 100MW annual production at its facility.
Prior to his work at UET, Winter managed Pacific Gas & Electric’s Energy Storage Program, and held leadership positions at Deeya Energy (now Imergy) and PowerCell (now Vionx), where he helped to create the 100kW PowerBlock, the first flow battery product.
Winter holds 17 US patents with a further 10 pending.
He founded Primus Power and served as Chief Technology Officer, based on his invention of the single loop flow battery sans membrane (Patent 8039161).
