Fluence Energy has confirmed it will provide its Gridstack Pro™ energy storage technology for the Pioneer Clean Energy Center in Yuma County, Arizona.
The scheme is being developed by BrightNight alongside joint venture partner Cordelio Power, which operates across the US and Canada.
The Pioneer Clean Energy Center combines a 300MW ac solar installation with a 300MW/1,200MWh battery energy storage system. The pairing is designed to deliver firm, dispatchable capacity to meet Arizona’s rapidly increasing electricity demand. Under a long-term tolling agreement, the project aims to strengthen grid reliability and ease peak‑demand pressures within the region.
BrightNight’s chief executive officer, Martin Hermann, said, “Pioneer will deliver reliable, dispatchable clean power that Arizona needs to support its rapid growth. This project demonstrates how large-scale renewables paired with advanced storage can provide firm capacity and real grid resilience. We are pleased to work with partners who share our commitment to building the next generation of energy infrastructure.”
Fluence’s Gridstack Pro system will use US‑manufactured cells, modules, enclosures and thermal management equipment, contributing to the expansion of domestic energy storage manufacturing and supporting wider energy security goals.
John Zahurancik, chief customer success officer at Fluence, added, “We first put storage on the US grid to meet exactly the kind of reliability needs Arizona is facing, and we have since proven that it can be delivered at massive scale. We are proud to partner on this project, demonstrating that US-made battery systems can meet critical power needs reliably and cost-effectively.”
Construction is underway, with commercial operation targeted for April 2027.
