Fluence Energy has officially started manufacturing its next-generation energy storage platform, Smartstack™, at a cutting-edge automated facility in Vietnam.
Smartstack, unveiled in February 2025, is an AC-based energy storage system featuring a patent-pending modular design. Its architecture allows for simplified transport and installation, while delivering up to 30% higher energy density than comparable solutions. This enables more megawatt-hours within existing footprints and opens up previously constrained sites for development.
To support long-term performance, Smartstack is backed by Fluence’s Smart Service Plans, which include an Availability Guarantee of up to 99%, what is said to be the industry’s first Dispatchable Energy Guarantee for 24/7 energy access, and extended guarantees on energy capacity and round-trip efficiency for up to 25 years.
“The start of Smartstack manufacturing is the tangible realisation of our commitment to innovation, as we begin to bring our high-density, intelligent solution to life,” said Peter Williams, chief product and supply chain officer at Fluence. “We believe this achievement positions us to deliver Smartstack to customers with speed and scale while maintaining our uncompromising standards of safety, performance, and reliability to maximise project value.”
The Vietnam facility is a key part of Fluence’s global strategy, with an annual production capacity of 35GWh. Its fully automated processes are designed to meet rising market demand while ensuring consistent quality and safety.
