Australian clean technology company Graphene Manufacturing Group (GMG) has launched its European sales operations, as it looks to build market presence for its graphene-based battery and energy storage technologies.
The company confirmed that it held a training workshop in London during the week of 9 March, bringing together newly recruited sales personnel from across the UK and Europe. The regional team now comprises more than 10 staff focused on technical sales and business development.
While GMG’s commercial portfolio includes a range of graphene-enhanced products, the European expansion is expected to support the company’s energy storage activities, including the development of graphene aluminium-ion batteries and performance additives for lithium-ion systems.

GMG is working with the University of Queensland, with support from the Australian Government, to advance the commercialisation of its graphene aluminium-ion battery technology. The company is also developing a graphene-based additive slurry designed to enhance the performance of conventional lithium-ion batteries, including improvements in conductivity and thermal management.
Chief executive Craig Nicol said the establishment of a European commercial presence is a key step in scaling the company’s technologies internationally: “Building a sales force in key areas of the world is one of GMG’s key activities it is focused on right now and to get the European team set up and running so fast has been a great achievement.”
GMG’s graphene manufacturing uses a proprietary process that converts natural gas into graphene, hydrogen and residual hydrocarbons, with a focus on producing high-quality material suitable for energy storage applications.
