Base Power has partnered with the Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative (GVEC) to roll out a utility-operated home battery programme in Texas, beginning with homes built by Lennar.
The initiative introduces a new model for distributed energy storage, with GVEC directly managing the battery fleet using Base Power’s proprietary software platform.
The programme enables GVEC to dispatch the batteries to reduce transmission and energy costs for its members, while participating homeowners benefit from whole-home backup and access to the Base app for real-time system insights and performance tracking.

The partners also plan to qualify the battery fleet for ERCOT’s Aggregated Distributed Energy Resource (ADER) pilot programme, unlocking additional grid value while preserving backup functionality for homeowners.
Deployment of the pilot began in June 2025 and marks another step in Base Power’s strategy to scale distributed storage through utility partnerships. GVEC, which serves over 100,000 members across 3,200m2 in South Central Texas, is positioning itself at the forefront of grid innovation through this collaboration.
