US battery recycler Ascend Elements did a materials supply tie-up with Japanese car maker Honda, according to an announcement.
Honda said it is seeking a consistent supply of nickel, cobalt and lithium which Ascend Elements reclaims from recycled lithium-ion batteries. Honda will use these resources in its battery supply chain for electrified vehicles produced in North America.
By collaborating with various resource recycling businesses, including Ascend Elements, Honda will continue its effort to ensure stable procurement of essential recycled resources, it said. Ascend also makes cathode materials.
