HPQ Silicon has received its first industrial shipment of HPQ ENDURA+ lithium-ion battery cells, marking a key milestone in its transition from lab validation to commercial deployment.
Delivered to HPQ’s Montreal office in late October, the batch includes both 18650 and 21700 cylindrical formats, incorporating GEN3 silicon-based anode material developed in partnership with Novacium.
These pre-commercial lithium-ion cells will now be distributed to selected partners and institutional testers across mobility, energy storage and defence sectors for independent field trials under varied operating conditions.
Built on extensive lab trials conducted throughout 2024 and 2025, the new ENDURA+ cells have demonstrated strong electrochemical stability, high energy density, and compatibility with existing lithium-ion production infrastructure. Novacium has scaled manufacturing at its French facility to support up to 1.5 million 18650-format cells annually, with flexibility to produce both 18650 and 21700 formats based on demand.

This will allow us to confirm performance consistency across environments and gather the operational data we need ahead of full-scale commercialisation.”
HPQ’s GEN3 silicon-anode technology is designed to boost energy density and cycle life while remaining compatible with current manufacturing lines. The company aims to establish high-value battery material production in Canada, supporting North American energy storage supply chains.
