Vehicle components maker Pinnacle Industries has completed a lithium-ion battery assembly plant in India following a partnership with China’s Phylion Battery Company.
The assembly unit in the Indian state of Maharashtra will manufacture integrated lithium-ion battery packs for electric vehicles (EV) targeted at the domestic market.
The Indian firm plans to roll out battery packs using Phylion cells and semi-knocked-down (SKD) kits for a range of electric vehicles.
Pinnacle’s chairman and managing director Sudhir Mehta said there is immense market potential and dire need to localise manufacturing of EV batteries, to enable manufacturers to bring down costs of EVs to make them more viable.
