Advanced Battery Concepts (ABC) is licensing its bipolar ‘GreenSeal’ lead-acid technology to India’s Exide Industries.
The deal marks US-based ABC’s fourth licence agreement with the lead battery giant.
ABC said the agreement showed GreenSeal “continues to gain momentum and global acceptance”— and said it expects to announce further such deals this year.
Exide Industries CEO and managing director G Chatterjee said GreenSeal had “significant potential to enhance battery performance and reliability” in India’s hot climate.
GreenSeal technology “drastically simplifies lead battery manufacturing and significantly improves lead battery performance by increasing cycle life, lowering weight, reducing recharge time, improving reliability and is fully recyclable”, ABC said.
The Michigan company, founded a decade ago by CEO Dr Ed Shaffer, has licensed its bipolar technology to Johnson Controls, the Trojan Battery Company and one leading Chinese manufacturer over the past year.
