Lead battery component supplier Accumalux is to manufacture and sell lead-acid battery maker IQ Power’s battery mixing units.
Luxemburg-headquartered Accumalux will manufacture plastic parts with Switzerland-based IQ Power’s technology, which uses plastic parts as passive mixing elements, for the European truck and commercial vehicle battery market in Europe.
The battery mixing technology reduces or eliminates disruptive influences by simplifying parameters and making complex interdependencies lead-acid batteries easier to control, calculate and predict, according to IQ Power.
Modern commercial vehicles have a large amount of electrical consumers that causes deeper discharge of the batteries. The discharge creates stratification, which failure of the battery. IQ’s technology is designed to eliminates the stratification and prevent sulfation. The mixing units can be applied to any standard vehicle battery.
By partnering, both partners aim to accelerate sales by commercial battery manufacturers and commercial OEM vehicle manufacturers.
The first production of the iQ Power plastic parts for commercial vehicles at Accumalux is scheduled for mid-2015. No sales targets have been set as to date.
Accumalux recently inaugurated a new facility in Sadovo, Bulgaria, comprising of a 4,100 sq. m. production hall and a 550 sq. m. administration building. The company moved its production facilities from the existing plant in Asenovgrad to the new site in November.
The component supplier also acquired an injection moulding company in Togliatti, Russia and formed Accumalux Russia earlier this year.
