Energy storage system developer Alfen has been selected by Swedish power company Vattenfall to deploy a 5MW/20MWh system in its home country.
The system in Uppsala will be the third large-scale energy storage system that the Netherland’s-based developer has delivered to the government-owned multinational.
The system will be connected to distribution grid operator Vattenfall Eldistribution and be used to mitigate grid capacity limitations and enable trading on the flexibility market.
Alfen’s other projects for Vattenfall include: a 3MWh ESS at the Prinses Alexia Windpark in the Netherlands and a 12MWh ESS, which was part of a hybrid solar and wind farm.
