Japanese battery manufacturer GS Yuasa showcased its 300kW ‘plug and play’ lithium-ion power cabinet in the Data Centre World exhibition in London.
The new product contains 12 GS Yuasa LIM50EN-12-F2 lithium-ion batteries with 3,000 cycles at 100% discharge and 600A charge-discharge, (density controlled) by a battery management system.
The product is designed to be a space-saving alternative to Valve Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA) powered UPS systems for data centres and other standby power applications.
The lithium-ion battery system will produce twice the power despite being less than half the size of the VRLA system.
Yuasa displayed the new products alongside its VRLA battery peers to show the industry the lithium technology up close, said Mark Greer, General Sales Manager of Reserve and Renewable Power Division at GS Yuasa Battery Sales UK Ltd.
