Japan’s Showa Denko Packaging, a consolidated subsidiary of Showa Denko K.K, is set to open a new plant to manufacture its SPALF line of aluminium laminate films for packaging lithium-ion pouch cells.
The new production facility, scheduled for operation in March 2021, will include equipment for the mass production of the company’s new large-scale lithium-ion packaging for electric vehicle applications.
The company’s SPALF™ product is a composite of aluminium foil and resin film, that it says is flexible in moulding, lightweight and has better heat radiation characteristics than a metal-can.
