Lead battery conference 19ABC moved to virtual conference

The 19th Asian Battery Conference and Exhibition (19ABC) has confirmed it will be held virtually this year due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns.

One of the biggest lead battery events in the calendar will now be held as a virtual event due to the world continuing to confront the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Conference organisers said they had hoped moving the event from September to November would have enabled them to host the physical event, but concerns for the health and safety of delegates had forced the rethink.

The management team continually monitored and assessed the situation, but the continuing pandemic, closure of many international borders, and the disruption to travel had increased those concerns.

Mark Stevenson, conference chairman, said:  “We are truly disappointed not being able to host 19ABC physically this year, and it is a decision we have not taken lightly.

“In consultation with many groups, including feedback from the host city, the possibility of having to cancel the live event with little notice was far too great.

“Our aim and focus now are to deliver a stellar virtual experience that reflects what the industry has come to expect from an ABC Conference. We will be excited to share all the details with you shortly.”

Details regarding the virtual event will be announced in the coming weeks but the event is expected to be held 2–5 November, 2021.

The conferences sister event— 7th International Secondary Lead Conference— is also due to be held virtually on 2-3 November, 2021.
