Two management level employees have moved from Eaglepicher and taken half a century of combined battery knowledge to nickel-zinc battery start-up Zaf Energy.
Randy A. Moore has been named as Zaf’s new president and CEO, with Tom Shireman joining the US firm to lead manufacturing operations at the Montana-based company.
Former Eaglepicher president Moore was hired to lead the company through its commercialisation phase.
Plant manager Shireman, who has 35-years experience in the industry, joins Zaf’s management team as the new vice president of manufacturing operations.
Moore said: “I believe that ZAF’s nickel-zinc battery is one of the most disruptive technologies available today as a competitive replacement for lead acid and nickel cadmium batteries and with better performance, safety, cost, and reliability, Nickel Zinc can make a significant dent in the lead acid market.”
