The International Lead Association (ILA) presented its International Lead Award to Eckhard Karden and Mark Stevenson for ‘exceptional contributions’ to the lead and lead battery industries.
The award was made at the European Lead Battery Conference in Lyon, France.
The ILA said in a statement that Karden is at the forefront of innovation in lead batteries for the automotive industry. He is a technical specialist at the Ford Research and Innovation Centre.
The industry body added that Karden’s specialist input and guidance have ensured that advanced lead batteries continue to play a vital role in vehicles around the world. He is a respected educator and mentor to aspiring young academics and technicians, it said.
Mark Stevenson is Technical Director at Global Lead Technologies. He was recognised for ‘a lifetime’s exceptional service to the lead and lead battery industries’, as well as his role in founding the Asian Battery Conference and International Secondary Lead Conference.
