JA Solar is expanding its European commercial and industrial (C&I) battery energy storage offering with the launch of JAPlanet Fusion and JAPlanet 2.0.
JAPlanet Fusion is a DC-coupled hybrid solar and storage system integrating an inverter, battery storage and backup functionality. JAPlanet 2.0 is the latest version of the company’s AC-coupled C&I battery energy storage system, offering higher efficiency, thermal management and enhanced operations and maintenance capabilities.
JAPlanet Fusion combines key components into a single system, reducing interfaces and cabling while simplifying installation and commissioning. Its 261 kWh battery cabinet has a rated power of 125 kW, with up to 10 units able to operate in parallel for on-grid applications and up to six in off-grid mode.
The system is designed particularly for solar repowering projects. It supports PV input of up to 250 kWp, with additional solar capacity possible on the DC side across 20 strings and 10 MPP trackers, while AC output remains within the permitted grid power limit.
JA Solar says this can enable asset owners to increase the value of existing solar installations and grid connections while adding storage and operational resilience. The system can also simplify engagement with distribution system operators by reducing the need for increased grid export capacity.
For backup applications, an integrated static transfer switch detects grid failure and switches to off-grid operation within 10 milliseconds.
“JAPlanet Fusion has been developed with this next generation of C&I projects in mind. By integrating solar, storage and rapid backup functionality into a single system, we can give our partners a more streamlined approach to system design and deployment, while enabling greater solar utilisation and resilience from existing site infrastructure.”
Meanwhile, JAPlanet 2.0 provides 261 kWh of storage with maximum round-trip efficiency above 90% and can operate without derating at temperatures up to 50°C.
Its thermal management system cuts auxiliary power consumption by 20% compared with conventional systems. Cell-level monitoring and UL9540A certification support product safety, while the integrated JANebula energy management system enables time-of-use, peak-shaving and increased PV self-consumption applications.
