Indian car maker Tata Motors, which owns the UK’s Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) car maker, has reportedly called on the UK government for £500 million ($598 million) in subsidies for a battery factory.
The Financial Times reported that Tata Motors is considering two sites for a new factory, one in Somerset in England, and another in Spain. BEST has approached both Tata Motors and JLR for comment. The funding would include grants and support for energy costs and research.
A decision could come within the next two months, according to the report.
