American lead-acid battery manufacturer Advanced Battery Concepts (ABC) is extending production of its new GreenSeal line.
The sealed battery development company has added an ultra-lightweight, high-power version of the original battery designed for SLI and hybrid EV market.
The 12V, 24V, 36V and 48V variants and will undergo full production qualification at ABC’s Michigan development facility in 2015.
Weighing 3.8kg (8.3 lb), the 12V battery has 1,700W/kg of specific power maintaining more than 30WH/kg of specific energy.
The battery builds on ABC’s patented GreenSeal electrode technology, and its simplified design allows for the production of a lightweight cranking battery at significantly lower cost to manufacture than a conventional SLI or AGM battery.
