Cell and separator manufactur Leclanché has bought fellow lithium –ion battery company Trineuron.
The buy out allows the Swiss firm to increase its Battery Management Systems and module design capabilities for transport applications.
Leclanché adds a new system development centre incorporating an additional 10 engineers in the deal.
Trineuron, a business unit of the Belgian company Emrol, has a strong focus on lithium Titanate technology and produces batteries, chargers, management electronics and software.
As part of the acquisition process, Stefan Louis, Managing Director of Trineuron, will be joining the executive committee of Leclanché in the role of Chief Strategy Officer.
The buyout is in the form of a share deal whereby the company acquires a subsidiary of Emrol against payment of 410,000 Leclanché shares.
