Korean lithium-ion battery company LG Chem Ltd has seized on a gap in the microgrid market by joining forces with US-based Ideal Power Inc.
The multi-year alliance will allow the companies to pool its resources and market knowledge to boost their share of the commercial demand charge reduction and microgrid application sector using a lithium-ion sytem to store power during peak demand.
The set-ups include both 30kW and 125kW PCS configurations based on Ideal Power’s patented Power Packet Switching Architecture™ (PPSA).
Ryan O’Keefe, SVP of Business Development for Ideal Power, said: “Ideal Power’s PCS will be the link between the grid or PV to the battery. The products will be paired and tested with LG Chem’s batteries to ensure optimal performance from the system for specific applications. They will be marketed and sold as paired combinations.”
The systems will be paired and sized to meet the end users individual needs.
