Li-Metal, Canadian developer of lithium metal anodes and lithium metal technologies, said it completed proof-of-concept testing of silicon anode pre-lithiation.
In an operational update for its roll-to-roll anode pilot plant in Rochester, New York, the company said the results “open the door for Li-Metal in the silicon anode battery market”.
It increased its lithium metal anode material production by 200% – more than 3,000 metres of sample material for qualification.
Anode production increased to 140% of equipment nameplate capacity and 70% of the target for commercial-scale production intensity metrics. It said it believes this is the highest intensity PVD lithium metal anode deposition process in the world.
The company has recently completed an engineering scoping study for the development and expansion of a small commercial-scale anode production facility. The plant will demonstrate a PVD production line at full-scale, supplying millions of metres per year (approximately 200-250 MWh).
Li-Metal also announced the appointment of Kunal Phalpher to the newly created role of President.
