LiCAP Technologies, Inc. has confirmed it has secured an $11.3 million grant from the California Energy Commission (CEC) through the CALSTART‑managed PowerForward programme, supporting a major scale‑up of its advanced dry electrode manufacturing platform.
The funding will accelerate commercial deployment of the company’s next‑generation battery and energy storage technology.
This latest award builds on the company’s earlier CEC‑supported work, which enabled the development and commissioning of its 300 MWh production line, operational since last summer. The new programme will significantly increase output and aligns with the company’s previously announced expansion, adding around 40,000 square feet of new manufacturing and operational space.
LiCAP claim the proprietary Activated Dry Electrode® process removes the need for toxic solvents and energy‑heavy drying steps, offering a cleaner, more efficient and scalable route to producing electrodes for advanced batteries and energy storage systems.
The firm continues to push adoption of its dry electrode platform for electric vehicle batteries, next‑generation storage solutions and emerging all‑solid‑state technologies. It is also broadening development of ultracapacitor technologies aimed at AI and data‑centre applications requiring high power density and rapid response.

As part of its expansion, LiCAP will integrate AI‑enabled robotics and intelligent manufacturing systems to enhance automation, consistency and throughput. The project is expected to generate new engineering, automation and technical roles, supporting local workforce development and economic growth.
