Germany’s Litarion has announced its second program with fellow European firm Leclanche to work on a 4.2 MWh lithium-ion operated ferry.
Litarion, a wholly owned subsidiary of Electrovaya, will supply the anodes and cathodes to Leclanche, which is designing the world’s largest all electric ferry.
The 4.2 MWh battery will replace the ferry’s Diesel powered engine.
Canadian lithium-ion battery manufacturer Electrovaya bought German chemical maker Evonik Litarion in May 2015.
