Livium, the lithium-ion battery producer and recycler, has signed a five-year agreement with ZECO Energy, the Australia-based battery systems installer.
The agreement covers end-of-life recycling for ZECO Energy battery packs used in residential and commercial energy storage systems (ESS), it said.
It started on 19 February 2025 and will be managed by Livium subsidiary Envirostream Australia.
Livium said it will receive processing fees for sorting and recycling the batteries, as well as extra revenue from dismantling, discharging and transporting the batteries.
The deal also has no minimum volume commitments, nor has the financial impact been quantified, it said.
But it is an exclusive deal between the two companies and can be extended after the initial term for another three years.
ZECO supplies battery systems to brands including Tesla, Samsung SDI and LG Energy solutions. It also supplies solar panels and claims to have more than 40,000 customers.
Simon Linge, Livium CEO and managing director, said: “By collaborating with ZECO Energy, we are reinforcing our commitment to a circular economy for energy storage. This partnership ensures that end-of-life batteries are repurposed responsibly, supporting both environmental and industry sustainability. Building out the network of sources of end-of-life batteries gives us the confidence to scale our recycling business which will allow us to service more markets. We thank ZECO Energy for their partnership and confidence in our capabilities to enter into this 5-year contract.”
Jag Makam, ZECO director, said: “ZECO Energy is all about sustainability and responsible product cycle management. Teaming up with Livium takes that to the next level. By partnering with a top player in battery recycling, we are making sure our energy management solutions are handled responsibly from start to finish. This collaboration doesn’t just show our commitment, it raises the bar for energy solutions in Australia.”
