Italian motive power battery firm Midac SPA has announced it will supply maintenance-free lithium-ion power solutions to Yale Europe Materials Handling’s lift trucks in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
Midac noted its lithium-ion systems enable 100% recharge in one hour, thriving on opportunity charging, and giving back 40% charge in 20 minutes.
Yale said the cooperative technology does not require replacement batteries and battery change-over procedures, which allows the existing battery charging position to be used for other using purposes.
Yale also claimed the lithium-ion batteries do not require periodic topping up, which could save up to 40% annual energy costs for its customers.
The new technology, with 3,750 cycles at 80% discharge is available initially in 24V and 48V with an 80V introduction planned for existing truck battery customers.
“When (lithium-ion batteries are) applied to lift trucks it translates into improvements in productivity, efficiency, and provides emission-free charging and a lower CO2 footprint,” said Mat Allen, Solutions Manager of Counterbalance Products at Yale.
