Nevada utility NV Energy has issued a called for proposals that could see up to 330MW of new renewable energy facilities built in the state together with associated battery storage.
NV Energy said the move would provide enough carbon-free electricity to power around 200,000 Nevada homes.
However, president and CEO Paul Caudill said: “As important as this opportunity is to further the state’s desire for clean energy, equally important is that we expect to deliver these renewable projects to customers without increasing rates.”
Bids for projects are due to be submitted by 2 February 2018 and successful applicants will require the subsequent go-ahead from the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada.
NV Energy said it is anticipated the projects would be completed and producing energy for customers by 2020 or 2021.
