Lead-acid battery maker GS Yuasa is redefining its brand by establishing a new corporate slogan, “Creating the Future of Energy”, to signal a change in its business model that incorporates lithium-ion.
The slogan will be used in branding throughout the global GS Yuasa Group and comes ahead of the opening of a €3.5 million ($4.2million) lithium battery manufacturing plant in Hungary for the automotive sector.
A GS Yuasa spokesman told BEST Battery Briefingthe move did signal the shift towards lithium.
The new slogan replaces the Japanese firm’s “Next to You” motto in order to express its vision for the next 100 years,
GS Yuasa Corporation was formed from two companies, Japan Storage Battery (established in 1917) and Yuasa Storage Battery (established in 1918).
Both were responsible for building the foundation of storage battery development and manufacturing in Japan. The company now has 38 operating sites in 17 countries throughout the world.
Osamu Murao, GS Yuasa Corporation President, said: “For over 100 years, GS Yuasa has developed batteries which meet the needs of the times, contributing to the development of society. We will continue to carry this DNA forward, listening carefully to the market and ascertaining the energy systems which will be needed in coming generations.”
