WireFlow AB, the Swedish provider of battery test and monitoring systems, has launched its new turnkey EV battery discharging solution, WireFlow VoltDrain, at the Frankfurt Battery Recycling Expo. It solves the problems with residual voltage in discarded EV batteries in the first stage of the recycling process.
WireFlow says that VoltDrain is a price competitive, safe, plug-and-play solution. The target group includes battery recycling companies, battery manufacturers, EV manufacturers, EV dismantling centres and battery transport and storage companies. The modular unit in 10 ft or 20 ft containers offers an all-in-one solution that includes everything needed to start or scale up a battery discharging process.
The company says that the system is easy to deploy . “It is fully prepped with safe discharging technology for quick setup and ease of use. The solution is designed to address a range of needs, which also include space and discharging volume. Thanks to modularity you can add or remove any of the components based on your needs, making it a highly attractive option for a broad range of operations.”
WireFlow also emphasises safety – VoltDrain is equipped with integrated IR cameras for temperature monitoring with automatic shutdown and gas detectors. The containerised solution should efficiently manage the discharging process while minimising installation complexity and cost. Each container is delivered fully prepared with a safe discharging technology, ensuring quick setup and ease of use. The systems require only a standard 230V power outlet, allowing flexible placement either outdoors or within an existing facility. The system supports multiple EV battery types thanks to multi-channel discharge equipment including battery connectors and WF current control modules. The features include polarity check, overvoltage protection and overpower protection. A night-mode is available with lower current for safe discharge when no operator is available.
