Plans to build a “new energy” lithium battery industrial park with a total investment of CNY1.55 billion ($243.7 million) have been unveiled by the Liancheng County government in China’s Fujian Province.
The southeastern county said it will co-invest with other companies to spend a total of CNY920m on manufacturing two different types of lithium batteries— including producing 100 million 18600 lithium-ion cells for energy storage and vehicles each year— plus 20 million “soft pouch lithium batteries”.
In addition, the park project will feature a CNY400m lithium manganese oxide production plantand a lithium-ion electrolyte production facility with a planned annual output of 10,000 tons. Another feature of the park will be the production of steel shells and caps for lithium batteries.
The whole park is planned to go online 10 months after contracts have been signed.
