Octillion Power Systems has announced the successful conversion of its Pune, India battery facility to operate entirely on solar energy.
The California-headquartered company manufactures advanced battery systems for electric vehicles of all types.
The Pune battery facility, inaugurated in June 2023, began its solar transition in June 2024 and achieved full operational status by July 2025. The installation now delivers 545MWh of clean energy annually, making the site fully carbon neutral. Covering approximately 8,200m2, the facility produces 3GWh of annual battery capacity for India’s rapidly expanding EV market.
Paul Beach, global president of Octillion, said, “India’s electric vehicle market is accelerating rapidly, and we’re committed to ensuring this growth is truly sustainable. By converting our manufacturing to solar power, we’re closing the loop – producing the clean energy storage solutions of tomorrow, using clean energy today. This is just the beginning of our journey toward our goal of carbon-neutral operations across all our India facilities by 2027.”
This milestone marks the first of Octillion’s Indian factories to achieve full solar conversion. It forms part of a wider sustainability initiative to make all three of its India-based facilities carbon neutral by 2027.
“Accelerating cleaner, more efficient transportation in India is central to our mission as a global battery company,” Nikhil Parchure, senior vice president, added. “We will continue to advance our efforts in India and globally by providing cutting-edge, safe battery systems, working to leave the least environmental impact possible in the transportation sector.”
