ProLogium Technology has officially broken ground on its first European gigafactory in Dunkirk, marking the start of construction on a large‑scale manufacturing site for its fourth‑generation solid‑state lithium ceramic batteries.
The project represents the company’s first facility outside Taiwan and a major step in building a European battery value chain.
French President Emmanuel Macron said: “ProLogium has chosen France, and specifically Dunkirk, to establish its first electric battery gigafactory in Europe. This is a source of French pride, creating jobs in the Dunkirk area and supporting the decarbonization of our economy.”
Founder and CEO Vincent Yang described the milestone as “a pivotal step from innovation to scalable manufacturing,” adding that the company is now working toward clear production and ramp‑up targets while strengthening local supply‑chain partnerships.
French ministers highlighted the gigafactory’s role in advancing industrial sovereignty, low‑carbon manufacturing and the country’s wider ecological transition. Regional leaders emphasised Dunkirk’s emergence as a fast‑growing battery cluster supported by strong logistics links and access to carbon‑free energy from the nearby Gravelines nuclear plant.
The Dunkirk site will host ProLogium’s mass‑production platform based on an all‑inorganic solid‑state electrolyte architecture. The roadmap includes initial production in 2028 at 0.8GWh, scaling to 4GWh by 2030 and 12GWh by 2032, with long‑term potential to reach 48GWh.
Founded in 2006, ProLogium holds more than 1,000 global patents in next‑generation lithium ceramic battery technology.
