R.Power and GEN‑I have agreed a long-term optimisation contract for the 127MW/254MWh Scornicesti battery energy storage system in Romania, one of the country’s largest BESS assets to secure such a deal.
GEN‑I will act as exclusive optimiser and trading partner, managing commercial activity across wholesale and ancillary service markets while providing R.Power with a guaranteed revenue floor.
The agreement runs from the start of commercial operations through to the fifth anniversary of full revenue activation. It follows Eiffel Investment Group’s purchase of a 49.9% stake in the project in 2025, strengthening the long-term investment strategy behind the development.
The deal supports R.Power’s wider expansion of flexibility assets across Central and Eastern Europe. As Chief Commercial Officer Rafał Hajduk said,“R.Power continues to develop its multi-technology portfolio, combining photovoltaic projects, battery energy storage and hybrid solutions across multiple European markets. We are focused on building long-term, scalable assets that respond to the growing demand for flexibility and energy security across Europe; taking a lead in the delivery of firm green power.”
It also builds on the company’s recent optimisation contract for the 150MW/300MWh Jedwabno BESS in Poland, reinforcing the strategic role of storage in the firm’s growth. The company now holds a pipeline of more than 10GW of grid-secure battery energy storage (BESS) projects, both standalone and hybrid with solar PV and renewable projects across six European markets.
