Alina Energy, an Australia-based energy supplier, has appointed Genus Plus Group to construct the first phase of the Reeves Plains Energy Hub battery energy storage system (BESS) in South Australia.
The site will feature 194 battery modules designed to store renewable energy and release it during peak demand supplied by Chinese battery maker CATL.
The Reeves Plains Energy Hub will also feature 89 inverters provided by Power Electronics, as well as the infrastructure to support it and vegetation screening.
Stage one of the battery will be able to power the equivalent of 300,000 households for four hours.
Construction is set to begin in early 2026 and the Alina Energy expects stage one to be operational by 2028.
The company said it is working with the local community and council to shape a benefit sharing programme which reflects local needs.
It said that early works are underway, and procurement is advanced, with the site being prepared for the build.
The project is said to create local jobs during construction as well as opportunities for local suppliers and contractors to get involved.
