ROSS has announced the completion of its largest Double Planetary Mixer to date in the United States, the Model DPM-750.
This large-capacity mixer is designed to handle up to 750 gallons per batch and is engineered with safety features suitable for a Class I, Division 1, Group D hazardous environment.
The heavy-duty build provides the robust agitation required for ultra-high viscosity materials, meeting stringent safety standards. A 150 HP inverter-duty motor drives a pair of high viscosity (HV) stirrers, operating in planetary motion to efficiently turn over extremely thick, sticky, stiff or dense materials.
Vacuum mixing to 29.5”Hg ensures a void-free finished product and enhances dispersion quality. The vacuum hood is customised with ports for ingredient charging, exhaust and observation. Product contact parts are stainless steel type 304, polished to an 80-grit finish, while interchangeable mix cans allow flexible batch processing.
The dual-post hydraulic lift incorporates a 10HP explosion-proof motor, dual hydraulic pumps, and integrated locks with proximity switches for secure positioning. The mixer’s safety interlocks prevent operation unless stirrers and mix cans are correctly aligned.
A ram-type discharge system supports fast product transfer and simplified cleaning. Its pressure-compensating hydraulic system maintains 60 PSI under the platen. Within minutes, a 750-gallon batch is discharged through the 4” flush tank ball valve, while the platen O-ring scrapes sidewall surfaces during descent, maximising yield.
