Ross has highlighted its Retention Mixer, a system developed to maintain product uniformity during storage while preventing settling, improving reaction yield and providing continuous agitation throughout storage and unloading operations.
The featured units have a full holding capacity of 250 gallons and are engineered to operate at pressures of up to 200psi and temperatures reaching 300°F, making them suitable for demanding processing applications.
Manufactured from Type 304L stainless steel, the Retention Mixer is designed, built and ASME Section VIII, Division 1 stamped for pressure service. Each vessel is hydrotested before leaving the factory to verify its integrity.
Mixing performance is delivered by 15 specially designed agitator blades powered by a 15HP totally enclosed fan-cooled (TEFC) inverter-duty motor operating at speeds of up to 350rpm. The blade arrangement is complemented by 14 internal baffles, which promote consistent product movement throughout the vessel to help maintain uniformity.
The mixer also incorporates an angular contact steady bearing to provide stability for the 17-4 PH shaft. The shaft is fitted with a dry-running single mechanical seal designed to support reliable operation under pressure.
Ross says the Retention Mixer can be configured to meet individual process requirements, with optional nozzles available for material additions, ventilation, drainage and process instrumentation. This flexibility enables the vessel to be adapted for a range of production environments and processing duties.
While the example system has a 250-gallon capacity, the company offers the Retention Mixer in a range of sizes, with models available up to 5,000 gallons. The combination of pressure-rated construction, continuous agitation and customisation options is intended to support applications where product consistency must be maintained from processing through to storage and unloading.
