BEST Magazine is saddened to report the loss of an industry icon this week.
Roger Winslow, former Battery Council International (BCI) president and former CEO of Voltmaster, passed away on Wednesday 25 June.
Roger was a driving force behind the evolution of BCI as the worldwide trade association, moving more aggressively into public policy, standard-setting and other pressing issues.
Roger served as BCI president from 1986–1988 and was also president of the Independent Battery Manufacturers from 1973–1975. He served on the BCI board for roughly three decades until 2006, and as a Board Member Emeritus until 2012. During his tenure, Roger also developed and regularly led an informal board member orientation meeting to make sure that non-battery board members understood the difficult industry issues.
Roger was awarded BCI’s Distinguished Service Award in 2024 in recognition of his exemplary service to the energy storage industry.
“Roger’s many years of dedicated service stands as an example to us all,” said BCI’s president and executive director, Roger Miksad. “He worked selflessly to build world-class industry group that has withstood the test of time and our thoughts go out to his family.”
