Construction at Agratas’ Sanand battery manufacturing facility in Gujarat is advancing rapidly, marking a significant milestone in India’s clean energy ambitions.
The 320-acre site has completed its foundation works, with the steel framework now close to completion. Designed to deliver an initial annual capacity of 20GWh, the project represents one of the largest investments in India’s battery cell manufacturing sector.
More than 2,000 construction workers and 700 vendor staff are engaged on-site, ensuring round-the-clock progress.

Each phase of construction takes us closer to our goal of building one of the most advanced battery manufacturing facilities in the country.”
The Sanand battery facility is being delivered in collaboration with Tata Projects and Tata Consulting Engineers, whose expertise in infrastructure and engineering is central to the facility’s development.
Alongside construction, a resilient supply chain is being established. This includes an integrated planning system linking demand, supply and inventory management, supported by a dedicated Supply Chain Control Tower, environmentally controlled warehouses, and specialised storage tanks.
The Sanand battery facility is also building a diverse workforce, welcoming talent from varied backgrounds to shape the future of advanced manufacturing.
