Schneider Electric has acquired AST Modular, a Spanish data centre service provider, and Invensys, a UK-based industrial automation company, for £3.4bn ($5.6bn).
AST supplies turn-key data centre modules, services, manufacturing expertise, and project engineering support. The acquisition strengthens Schneider Electric’s position in the prefabricated data centre solutions market and shows a commitment to growing its position in the modular market. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
Kevin Brown, VP of data centre global strategy at Schneider said: “The acquisition of AST Modular strengthens our regional capabilities in Latin America, Europe, Middle East, and Africa, with factories and custom engineering staff located in Barcelona, Spain and Miami, Florida.”
Invensys provides industrial software for process control, control systems, safety systems and instrumentation, and manufactures components for industrial control and home appliances.
