Estonian Energy storage developer Skeleton Technology have appointed Tobias Hüppe as its new chief operations officer. Hüppe, a former senior director of manufacturing at Sweden’s Northvolt, will be directing the manufacturing expansion.
Hüppe comes with a wealth of experience from the battery industry and, in particular, in scaling battery manufacturing and establishing giga-factories. His background also includes various roles in the automotive industry at Faurecia, Webasto and Edscha.
Skeleton’s current COO, Dr Linus Froböse, will assume the role of chief technology officer to steer technology and product development utilising his experience in research and development. He will also expand the production of curved graphite – Skeletons patented carbon material.
The company, in collaboration with Siemens, is in the process of building a new factory near Leipzig, Germany, to manufacture its supercapacitor product line, increasing the company’s production capacity by 40 times. Automated and digitalised mass-production is scheduled to start by the end of 2024.
