Since 2019, Sorfin Yoshimura has proudly stood alongside the Asian Battery Conference in supporting the ONE Minute Giveback initiative, a powerful demonstration of what collective goodwill can achieve.
The journey began in Bali, where the very first giveback programme was launched, setting a precedent for meaningful industry-led philanthropy. While the 2021 conference was held virtually due to the pandemic, the spirit of giving endured, and in 2023, the initiative found new ground in Cambodia. Now, as we gather in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah Borneo, for the 21st Asian Battery Conference, we mark the third in-person chapter of the evolving legacy of ONE Minute Giveback.
The essence of ONE Minute Giveback is simple yet deeply impactful: collective micro-donations that, when combined, create real and lasting change. This year, the initiative supports two local charities in Sabah – the Seri Mengasih Centre, which has provided decades of care and therapy for children with autism and intellectual disabilities, and the Kota Kinabalu Children’s Home, offering shelter, education and care for vulnerable children.
Sorfin Yoshimura and ABC collective involvement goes beyond sponsorship. The organisations actively contribute to identifying and vetting the charities, fundraising, awareness campaigns, and coordination efforts, helping to amplify the initiative’s reach and ensure its continued success via maximising donations from the industry. Hosting a global event such as the 21st Asian Battery Conference in Kota Kinabalu serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of giving back to the vibrant local communities that welcome us.
The generosity of industry partners and delegates fuels hope and opportunity for those in need. Donations help fulfil wish lists that provide educational materials, therapy equipment, and essential daily items – all vital to improving the lives of children facing significant challenges.
But the ONE Minute Giveback’s impact is not only financial. It nurtures a sense of community among industry stakeholders, uniting diverse participants around a common goal of social responsibility. This collective effort demonstrates that even small contributions, when combined, can lead to substantial outcomes.
Looking ahead to the onsite gifting event, where children from the beneficiary organisations may join for presentations and celebrations, we are reminded that philanthropy is a shared responsibility – one that enriches us all. These moments bring the cause to life, allowing donors and recipients to connect personally and meaningfully.
Sorfin Yoshimura remains committed to this legacy of compassion and community support. Through ONE Minute Giveback, the company demonstrates that even a minute of giving can create a lifetime of impact. Sorfin Yoshimura believes that corporate social responsibility is integral to our industry’s future – a way to ensure that progress benefits not only businesses but also the communities that sustain them.
As the battery industry continues to grow and innovate, initiatives like ONE Minute Giveback serve as a way for us to express gratitude for the privilege to travel to these communities for our conferences, along with a reminder of our collective duty to give back. Sorfin Yoshimura is proud to play a role in this ongoing journey, standing with partners and delegates to make a tangible difference in Borneo during the 21st ABC and for many conferences to come.
