Sungrow, the PV inverters and energy storage systems company, has taken a major step forward in South Africa after signing a landmark agreement with its official distribution partner, Herholdt’s Group.
The deal will see the deployment of 1,155MWh of commercial and industrial (C&I) battery energy storage systems, marking one of the most significant commitments to date in the region’s fast‑growing energy storage market.
The agreement strengthens Sungrow’s position in South Africa and highlights the rising demand for dependable, flexible energy solutions across the C&I sector. It also reflects strong confidence in the company’s advanced storage technologies and its ability to deliver systems suited to local operating conditions.
Rollout will take place in phases, with projects distributed across the country to support a broad range of commercial and industrial applications. Using Sungrow’s latest BESS technology, the installations aim to boost power reliability, improve operational efficiency, and help businesses integrate more renewable energy into their operations.
Nigel, President of Sungrow Sub‑Saharan Africa, emphasised the company’s long‑term commitment to the region, stating: “Sungrow has been operating in South Africa for 9 years and has built a strong regional presence to support projects across the continent.” He added, “We are pleased to strengthen our partnership with Herholdt’s Group as we continue to grow the C&I energy storage market in South Africa. This agreement reflects our shared confidence in the long-term potential of the C&I segment, as well as strong recognition of Sungrow’s solutions in delivering reliable and scalable energy storage for local applications.”
