Sungrow, a Chinese photovoltaic inverter system solution supplier, is to supply a turnkey 30MWh battery energy storage system for installation in Japan.
Sungrow said the BESS will comprise “advanced NCM lithium batteries” for the project in Hokkaido from its joint venture company with Samsung SDI JV.
In addition, Sungrow is supplying 23 containers of storage inverters and an energy management system for the project.
The batteries “feature a high energy density, long life cycle, and deep charging/discharging functions”, Sungrow said. However, the company did not name the Japanese owner of the project.
Last year, Sungrow unveiled a battery energy storage system for the North American market comprising SC250KU storage inverters, Samsung 198S lithium battery packs, and BMS&EMS (Battery Management System & Energy Management System) software.
Sungrow said it has now supplied more than 600 projects in over 50 countries and “has developed a complete system solution for frequency regulation, demand response, and micro-grids”.
