Sungrow has signed a supply agreement with EP Produzione to deliver its PowerTitan 2.0 solution for a 100MW/220MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Trapani, Sicily, its first deployment in Italy.
The two-hour utility-scale system will consist of 44 PowerTitan 2.0 units, designed to provide frequency regulation, peak shaving, and balancing services in a region critical to Italy’s solar PV expansion. The solution’s integrated architecture – combining PCS, BMS, and EMS – enables streamlined commissioning and centralised control, while liquid cooling and high energy density support long-term performance.
“The agreement with Sungrow represents an important step in our journey towards a more flexible and sustainable energy system,” said Luca Alippi, CEO of EP Produzione. “This project in Trapani is the third electrochemical storage project we have launched in Italy.”
Sungrow’s PowerTitan 2.0 also features advanced grid service capabilities and intelligent charge-discharge management. Its all-in-one AC-DC block design with pre-assembled modules reduces installation time and lowers both CAPEX and OPEX. Safety remains a priority – Sungrow recently conducted the world’s largest BESS burn test to validate the system’s resilience.
Italy’s growing demand for energy storage and its ambitious decarbonisation targets make it a strategic market for Sungrow’s ESS and PV technologies. The Trapani project adds momentum to EP Produzione’s expanding pipeline of electrochemical storage initiatives.
