Sunotec, a European provider of large-scale solar solutions, has secured financing for seven landmark renewable energy initiatives in Bulgaria, including key BESS projects aimed at enhancing grid stability and energy storage capacity.
The portfolio, finalised in September 2025, includes one co-located solar PV and battery energy storage system and six standalone BESS projects. These are owned either directly by Sunotec or via Solaris Holding– a 50/50 joint venture between Sunotec and the principal shareholders of Eurohold Bulgaria.
In total, the projects represent 115MWp of solar capacity and 763MWh of battery storage.
“These projects mark a major milestone in our evolution not only as a turnkey solutions provider, but also as a long-term investor in renewable energy infrastructure,” said Viktor Stefanov, head of IPP at Sunotec. “With these investments, we are contributing to Bulgaria’s energy independence and to building a more resilient, flexible and renewable power system.”
The Bulgarian Ministry of Energy has approved subsidies for the standalone BESS projects under the Restore programme, which supports large-scale storage deployment and grid stability.
The new projects complement existing operational assets in Pernik, Verinsko and Selanovtsi.
