Swedish electric car maker Luvly is set to introduce its debut light urban vehicle later in 2023 with swappable lithium-ion batteries capable of 100km range.
Luvly CEO Håkan Lutz said the battery pack for the car, called Luvly O, has yet to be finalised. He told BEST: “The current prototype battery for the Luvly O is a lithium-ion pack developed for swappability. The pack weighs 15kg, has a capacity of 3.2kWh, and has a format that makes it really very portable.
“Luvly O is equipped with two such packs, for a total of 6.4kWh, which under normal conditions should give a range of about 100km in city traffic.”
The choice of pack is not final, and may change before market introduction, he said, adding that the car is still in development.
The idea is that the cars will be shipped flat packed in containers to small assembly plants close to consumers buying them. The company will focus on B2B sales.
Lutz said as the car is still being developed, he would not comment further on battery warranties, safety, or legal liabilities should batteries fail.
