Swiss battery start-up Innolith said it has reached commercialisation point with its I-State lithium-ion battery for electric vehicles (EVs) and e-mobility applications.
It said it will use a high energy density of 300 Wh/kg (NMC811/Graphite) to make batteries that are higher voltage, lighter and cheaper than conventional lithium- ion batteries.
The liquid inorganic electrolyte means it can operate at higher voltages than traditional lithium-ion battery cells, it said.
It has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with five customers for a production requirement of 100 MWh per year. Most customers are not being named but are in the off-road, aviation and mining sectors. There is another MoU with Xerotech, an Irish maker of battery pack technology for heavy-duty non-road mobile machinery.
In the automotive sector, Innolith said it is working closely with three of the 10 largest car companies and has recently signed an MOU with a leading electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer.
