Home battery trial to test benefits of ESS and renewables

UK firm Moixa is once again testing the benefits of batteries for homeowners and utilities in making use of renewable energy.

The residential energy storage firm, along with utility Northern Powergrid (NP) and community renewable energy group Energise Barnsley teamed up to demonstrate how batteries can utilise solar energy.

Residential lithium-ion energy storage trials begin in UK

UK residential energy storage firm Moixa has begun trials of its lithium-ion phosphate smart battery and solar panel systems in London.

The UK firm installed the ESSs into social housing as part of four trials funded by the National Energy Action charity to demonstrate the benefits of energy storage linked to renewable sources.

Moixa Technology to use second life nickel metal hydride EV batteries for domestic storage pilot

UK domestic energy storage developer Moixa Technology is to use 'second life' Honda Civic nickel metal hydride batteries as part of a state-funded pilot.

In November 2013, Moixa was awarded funding for a £1.3m ($2.2m) project, which will see an aggregated 0.5MWh installed in 300 homes to demonstrate the provision of grid balancing services from domestic battery energy storage.
