Merger of flow battery firms sees Avalon move its CEO into RedT’s top seat

UK-based vanadium redox flow battery firm RedT will integrate the chief executive officer of US energy storage firm Avalon Battery Corporation on the successful completion of a merger between the two firms.

Larry Zulch will become the new chief executive of RedT subject to finalisation of the merger as Jeff Kenna and Scott McGregor prepare to leave the company on 31 December.

Flow battery firm opens R&D facility in Germany

VanadiumCorp Resource is set to open a vanadium redox flow battery research and development facility in Karlsruhe, Germany.

The facility will focus on next generation flow battery innovations as the company eyes the electrification of mobile applications such as vehicles, trains and ships.

Consortium gets nod to install VRFB as part of Li-ion hybrid system

Planning permission has been granted for the development of a 2MW/5MWh vanadium redox flow battery at a substation in Oxford, UK.

The system by RedT is part of the Energy Superhub Oxford project led by led by Pivot Power with a consortium of Habitat Energy, Kensa, Oxford City Council, the University of Oxford and UK-based firm.

Flow battery consortium to target UK market

Canada-based vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB) producer Cellcube is to be part of a new consortium that will develop and build grid-scale storage and solar projects in the UK.

Cellcube has partnered with UK solar-storage firm Hive Energy and energy storage consultants Immersa to form the HICC Energy consortium — which will develop projects using third-party financing and grants.

Canadian mining firm to enter growing VRFB materials market

A Canadian junior mining firm is set to move into the vanadium redox flow battery materials market after it successfully produced vanadium electrolyte during trials.

Toronto-based Golden Share Mining Corporation’s Vanadium Electrolyte (VE) was developed by Pacific Northwest National Laboratory of the United States Department of Energy (PNNL).
